Merry Christmas!

I hope yours was just as, or more, enjoyable as mine.

The spoils were great this year, with several horror related goodies....

It's nice to see the family and enjoy all the free food.

Did everyone else enjoy their Christmas?

Excuse Me While I Slip Into Something More... Christmasy

"Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt

My father absolutely detests this song. I can see why, but that doesn't stop me from loving it.

Another End

Is anyone else really freakin' excited that Creepmas just happens to end on Friday the 13th this year?

Anneka
I wish I had something to send everyone off with a bang, but all I have is this awesome wrapping paper that just came in the mail.

Krampus Wrapping Paper - Archie McPhee
Monster Wrapping Paper - House of Mysterious Secrets (although I don't think they carry it anymore...)
Yep, my presents are sure to stand out this year.

After today it's (somewhat sadly) out with the horror and in with the fuzzy Christmas cheer. See you again next year, Creepers!

Origin Story

A wonderful animated  version of Tim Burton's original poem 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', narrated by Christopher Lee. I bought the book version a few weeks back. A charming little story; it's no wonder the movie is so popular!

St. Nicholas Day

It started snowing around 10:30 last night.

And it continued until this morning, and now snows only off and on.

Which means, today is a perfect day for hot chocolate and a nice Creepmas movie!

Good Times Are Near

I've been a bit MIA lately, I know, but things have become unexpectedly busy. I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving, as I did.

Gobble Gobble!
But now that Turkey Day is over, it's time to look forward to another great season for lovers of horror and macabre: Creepmas!

I'm a CREEP for The 13 Days of CREEPMAS

I have a few things lined up for this year. Mostly pictures, a few videos, some decorations here and there. It should be great fun.

I Needed A Laugh Today

So this is what I ended up watching:

Woman: Well, I didn't vote for you.

Another Good Year

Ah, sadness. Halloween is over for this year, but for me, that just means the plans start for next year! I would like to kindly thank all who stayed with me through this season. I'm sure we all had great fun.

A special shout out to Caffeinated Joe, who kept the comments coming. It's always good to know that someone is paying attention.

Now, back to our (ab)normally scheduled programming!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Hail! 'Tis the beginning of Hallowmas, the three days traditionally established for observing and remembering the dead. Granted, today is the probably the most well known, but hey, why not have an excuse to stretch it out for a couple more days?

Originally via Hello! Lucky, although it appears they aren't selling this design anymore.

This year's costume was the default: Freddy Krueger, because, you know, why mess with what works??

As usual, my Thursdays consist of nothing but classes and work, but at least I get to show off my costume! Tonight will consist of gorging in pizza, candy, alcohol, and an assortment of horror movies. It's not my usual Halloween night out, but I think it will still be fun.

Drinks and Movies

Drinking this... (which is DELICIOUS, I must say)

While watching this...

And this...

And THIS...

Let's just say it's going to be a good night.

UPDATE: A massive thunderstorm began just as The Bride of Frankenstein started playing. If that isn't perfection, I don't know what is.

Another Year Older

Yessir, today is my birthday! I'm driving to my parent's house to celebrate (and I hear they have some surprises in store) for the weekend. This means Halloween themed presents and cake (I just adore having an October birthday).

I hope everyone's weekend will be as fun and creepy as mine!

'Tis The Beginning

Huzzah! October is finally here once again, which means it's time for....

Countdown to Halloween!!

That's right, droogs, as I mentioned before, Punch & Judy is participating again this year. Head over to Countdown to Halloween to see the full list of all the participants.

Unfortunately (and surprisingly) I have not(!) put up my decorations for Halloween this year. Blasphemy, I know, but it seems to have snuck up on me this year. Not to worry, though, I have plenty of time this evening to spruce my cave up.

In the meantime, I have some wonderful things planned this year, although it will be mostly stuff I've gathered on the interwebs since last year, but hopefully you'll get some joy out it. I fancy everyone is excited as I am.

Things That Make You Go Awwww

I have been sick out of my mind these past couple days, but I'm feeling better. And just in time for a heart warming video that's been floating around.

I have no idea if it's real or not, and snopes.com doesn't have anything on it, but still, this might be the greatest thing.

National One Hit Wonder Day

Spending most of my time in a non pop genre, it was strange combing through one hit wonder lists and seeing some of the artists mentions. System of a Down, really? I know more than one song by them. The same goes for Stone Sour, Fuel, and other artists as well. Not surprisingly, there was no death metal to be found. So, I took my cue from Wikipedia and tried to find my favorite one hit wonder that
1. Only had one Top 40 hit
2. Did not have other songs chart in genre specific charts
3. Were/are not successful and influential within their genre, ie, have a cult following.
4. Were not an American act with success overseas
5. Were not a non American act with success overseas
6. Were not a supergroup.
It was much more difficult than expected, and the best I came up with is....

Drum roll please....

This Brings Me Copious Amounts of Joy

After three years of off and on searching throughout the internet, I have finally found a audio version of The Mysterious Axeman's Jazz.

As the story goes, towards the beginning of the twentieth century, a serial killer was more or less rampaging through the streets of New Orleans, offing his victims with an axe. Mysteries at the Museum did a nice little segment on it a few months ago:

I have never been able to find a full audio version until now. Many thanks to Ragtimer95!!

Closing In On That Time of Year

Countdown to Halloween is preparing for the onslaught, as is Punch & Judy. This year the badges are dipping into nostalgia and bringing back the Monster Cereal mascots. I got dibbs on Count Chocula!

That Time of Year Again

Classes begin today for me. Unfortunately, my one Wednesday class does not begin until 6:30 tonight, so most of the day has been work and napping (as I have not been able to sleep properly for the past week).

My glorious pile of books. We are not thrilled.

An evening class also means I have to eat earlier and miss both Paranormal Witness and Joe Rogan Questions Everything, unless I want to stay up until one in the morning. I would do almost anything to just graduate already. Almost anything.

In more exciting news, I got a new shelf. Hooray! No more piles of books to walk around!

Whoever Came Up With This Show Is Brilliant

More videos and complete episodes can be found here.

Proving that Australia is more than just terrifying bugs and animals, they've given the world "SlideShow". I can't remember last time I laughed so hard at a game show.

Recommended Reading

I recently finished Hideous Absinthe: A History of the Devil in a Bottle by Jad Adams, and I must say it was quite interesting.

While not going into tremendous and tedious amounts of details, Adams does a pretty good job of compiling the history of the drink, particularly in France and Britain. He also discusses the lives of some of the people in connection to absinthe (mostly artists and poets) and many of the myths surrounding the green drink. He starts with its humble beginnings, and works up to absinthe's rise and fall, and eventual resurgence. Personally I found the last chapter the most interesting, as it discussed the reasons why drinking absinthe today is not at all like drinking absinthe in the late nineteenth century. As an occasional absinthe drinker myself (I've come a long way since over drinking it my first time), I can only wonder how it truly felt to be under that kind of influence.

If anyone else has read this, what were your thoughts? Some reviews I read were a bit harsh.

Now Watching

It seems like a good night for a ghost story.

The Others (2001)

Kind of hard to believe this movie is over ten years old. Still good, with a nice twist ending, especially if you've never seen it before.

Suggestions?

My current project has come to a standstill (as I currently lack the motivation to finish it at the moment), and I'm looking for another one to start. Anyone have some low budget project ideas? I was thinking about doing something for Halloween, but all the projects I have in mind involve pumpkins. Unfortunately, unless I make them myself out of paper mache, pumpkins run a little low in the middle of the summer.

This Month's Pirate Booty

Thanks to House of Mysterious Secrets, I am now the proud and excited owner of this baby, which is now gracing the wall of my bedroom.

It came with the slight expense of the apartment complex office staff not recognizing me for some odd reason, even though I have lived in the same place for the past three years and visit the office at least once a month to pick of packages and whatnot. Apparently they thought I was a guy?? I've never thought my name as a masculine one.

In This Episode of 'Freddy's Adventures'....

It is too hot to exist.

93 degrees with a heat index of 102. This is doing no good for my pale complexion.
The day will arrive when I am able to move to a place where it is cloudy all year round. Alas, that time has yet to come.

Currently Reading

I've discovered working in a library does no good for my 'Currently Reading' book pile.

And this is not even the full stack. I feel I have an odd mixture of books, but I want to read them all. At the moment I have four I need to turn in and three more I need to check out. Plus I have Dante's Divine Comedy laying around somewhere. My brain is nagging on me to start reading that as well.

I'm curious. How does everyone else go about their reading? Do you take on several books at once or one at a time?

I Don't Know If I Can Wait A Year

Who else watched the season finale of Hannibal last night? I have to admit, I watched the last fifteen minutes of it curled up in a ball on my couch with wide eyes.

I honestly cannot remember last time I have ever got so emotional over a goddamn tv show. If you haven't seen it, I would greatly recommend catching up on it. I think all the episodes are on nbc's website, but I'm not sure.

My Wednesday Night Shows Are Back!

Now that Paranormal Witness and Ghost Hunters are back, I don't just have Hannibal to look forward to each week. While some aspects of each show are a little bit iffy to me, I still quite enjoy them. Is anyone else excited, or is it just me?

Still Working On The Other Mask

This is becoming a verrrryyyy slllloooowwww process.

The goggle/not goggles are now attached. They're a little rough, so I'm debating on whether to mache over them to smooth them out or to just keep them the way they are. Thoughts?
