Dogs Teaching Chemistry

If my chemistry classes had been like this, I would have paid more attention.

A Little Metal for Your Monday

Indeed. It is a Whitechapel kind of day. Don't you agree? What are you listening to on this fine Monday?

Lurks In The Shadows

He had no eyes, not from what I could tell. But in that moment, I swore he was looking straight at me...

The character Simon Dark, from the DC universe.

Oh Blah

First day of classes, and I already have a headache. This is going to be a long semester.

In a Mellow Classical Mood Today

The iron tongue of midnight hath told twelve;
lovers to bed;
'tis almost fairy time.

Sounds Like An SOS

Today I learned my name in Morse Code.

... .... . .-.. .-.. -.--

I went to this site, which has a simple Morse Code translator. Needless to say, I spent at least a good thirty minutes inputting nonsensical things and pushing play. I felt like an old school spy.

The name is Bond. Shelly Bond. Er, ... .... . .-.. .-.. -.-- / -... --- -. -..

Something like that.

Wednesday Wanting

A couple days ago, I finally got my hands of some absinthe. Lucid, to be exact. Needless to say, I underestimated its power. Within in one hour, I had three glasses. I felt like I was going to die.

I will have this on my wall someday.

This poster pretty much sums up how I felt at the time. Although, on the other hand, I did end up writing an interesting bit of prose. I think I finally completely understand what Ernest Hemingway meant when he said "Write drunk; edit sober." Absinthe has a strange way of giving you a different view of the world.

It wasn't a magnificently terrifying experience, but I think it might be week or two before I venture back into the world of absinthe, and more responsibly this time.

Book Blitz Month

As January is "Book Blitz Month", here's what I am currently reading:

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I'm not one to be a sucker for classic books, but I am in complete love with Jane Eyre, although I cannot tell you exactly why. Maybe it's because I see a bit of myself in Jane, maybe it's because of the writing style, maybe it's because I have a soft spot for quasi-tragic love stories. Either way, it's a book I could never read just once. And I haven't.

To all my readers out there, what are you currently into right now?

When Morning Is A Curse and Night Cannot Come Fast Enough

I'm feeling like it's going to be a Nox Arcana kind of day. The sun isn't daring to peek out from behind the clouds, and there's a chance of rain in the air. I've got my coffee and my surround sound ready; let's do this!

And They All Feared Him

"And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night... And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all."
-"The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe

Still from The Phantom of the Opera (1925), starring Lon Chaney

More Batman To Be Seen

The Joker? None other than Anthony Misiano, the most perfect Joker cosplayer I have ever seen. This is one of the few fan films I am in full support of. To help them out, click here.

It's That Time Again

Every year comes with the obligatory resolution list. However, my list contains a few personal things I'm not yet ready to unleash to the world. But, every year, 'to read more' tops the list, regardless of how much I read the previous year. If you've ever looked through my crazy long side bar to the right, you may have noticed a reading challenge. For me, it's a great way to motivate myself into reading, even though I read anyway. I've participated in the Goodreads Reading Challenge for the past two years, and this year is no different.

I only added one more book to last year's challenge of 20, but I would love to read way more than I do now.

Did anyone else make resolutions this year, or did you just say to hell with it?

New Beginnings

2013! The first day of the rest of the year (har, har). It's my last full day staying in the mountains, nevertheless, I am in a particularly good mood. After all, it's the new year, so why not?? Needless to say, I did not quite make it to midnight last night. I kind of fell asleep. There are no real parties when you're in an isolated cabin.

I hope everyone is enjoying their new year. May it be filled with things that bring you joy and people who make you happy. Welcome to the new age.

(I do not like dubstepy things, but I cannot stop listening to this song. The History Channel has a knack for picking awesome songs for their commercials.)
